Conor Rhoda will no longer be splitting time at quarterback for the Gophers.
Rhoda was named the starter on Monday after his impressive performance in Minnesota’s 48-14 win over the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday, according to Andy Greder of the Pioneer Press.
The former standout at Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul was sharing snaps with sophomore Demry Croft.
Croft played sparingly while under center in the team’s win over Oregon State, and despite a 64-yard touchdown run, Croft did not attempt a single pass.
Meanwhile, Rhoda passed for 158 yards with a touchdown in the win.
He’s also developed a solid chemistry with freshman wide receiver Tyler Johnson, who himself had another big game. The Minneapolis native has hauled in 10 catches for 268 yards to go along with two touchdowns this season.
Through two games, Rhoda has completed 19 of 28 passes for 334 yards, for two touchdowns and one interception.
His offensive line has also kept him out trouble, as the Gophers are one of eight teams in the country who have yet to give up a sack.
Next up for the U is Middle Tennessee State at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday Sept. 16.
