Daquein McNeil, who once signed a letter of intent to play at Florida International University, has decided to follow Richard Pitino to Minnesota instead.
McNeil, a high school player from Baltimore, committed to the U of M today, according to the Pioneer Press.
McNeil, a fifth-year senior, averaged 19 points per game for Vermont Academy this past season. His coach, Jesse Bopp, said it wasn’t “a difficult decision” for McNeil to commit to Minnesota.
In an interview with GopherHole.com’s Chris Monter, Bopp says there’s “no question” McNeil can play at the Big 10 level, adding: “I have no doubt in his ability to be someone in that program that is going to have a large impact.”
