The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team is reportedly getting a top star from Old Dominion University through a transfer.
The Pioneer Press reports that a person with knowledge of the move says Shae Kelley – who is ODU’s top scorer and rebounder – is transferring to the U of M to play for new Gophers women’s basketball coach Marlene Stollings.
Kelley will be a senior next year and is expected to play immediately.
ODU says the 6-foot, 1-inch forward earned All-Conference USA first-team honors for the 2013-14 season in March. During the season, she reportedly averaged 17.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game.
Kelley, 22, was born in Denver and played high school basketball at Denver East.
ODU is located in Norfolk, Virginia.
