The Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings reportedly had some dialogue exploring a trade involving running back Dalvin Cook, according to longtime Miami Herald reporter Barry Jackson.
However, Jackson said Tuesday morning that after Miami’s “initial inquiries” with the Vikings, they “were not anticipating a trade” for Cook. But he says that “could change if the Vikings decide to do something with him.”

Miami is allegedly looking to pair another running back with Raheem Mostert, who agreed to return to the Dolphins on a two-year deal, according to numerous reports Tuesday morning.
When talking about Cook last week, KSTP-TV’s Darren Wolfson reported that “there is an interested team,” but there was nothing imminent involving the Miami native.
“I did hear that there is an offer in on Dalvin Cook. So if they wanted to trade Dalvin Cook, there is an interested team,” Wolfson said.
At the NFL Combine two weeks ago, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero said he’d be “surprised” if Cook isn’t with the Vikings in 2023.
“I would anticipate that he’s absolutely on the team,” said Pelissero.
Cook’s cap hit currently sits at $14.1 million. If the Vikings cut or trade him before June 1, they’d save roughly $8 million against the cap. If they wait until after June 1, they’d save about $9 million. According to OverTheCap, the Vikings are currently about $9.9 million over the cap and they need to be cap compliant by Wednesday, March 15.
