Samuel Deduno’s rough month of August might be due to a shoulder problem.
The Pioneer Press reports that Deduno complained of shoulder pain following his start against the White Sox on Sunday.
“It’s not sore, but I can’t be aggressive with any of my pitches,” Deduno said after the game. “When I try to throw hard, I feel it. I changed the angle of my arm to try not to feel pain. I think that’s the problem.”
Deduno has posted an ERA of 5.09 through four starts this month. From late May to late July Deduno went 7-3 with a 2.66 ERA.
According to the Star Tribune, manager Ron Gardenhire thinks Deduno simply might be getting tired.
