At one point last year, Jashon Cornell was ESPN Recruiting Nation’s No. 1 ranked high school football player in the country.
Cornell is now ranked 16th in the class of 2015, per ESPN’s rankings, but the defensive end recruit from Cretin-Derham Hall is expected to announce his college decision Wednesday at 9 a.m. on ESPN, as reported by 247sports.com.
Sorry, Gophers fans. The University of Minnesota doesn’t appear to be among the finalists.
Cornell is expected to decide between Notre Dame, Ohio State, Iowa, Michigan State and Penn State.
I will be committing on Wednesday at 9am at Cretin Derham-Hall. Everyone is welcome. pic.twitter.com/UzhvfJnO3h

Rivals lists Cornell as the top Minnesota player in the Class of 2015.
According to the Star Tribune, Minnesota was one of the first schools to offer Cornell a scholarship, but they haven’t had high hopes of signing him for quite some time.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer speculates that Cornell and fellow top recruit Justin Hilliard of Cincinnati St. Xavier High School will head to Ohio State as a package deal. Both players will announce their decision at the same time Wednesday – much like Apple Valley basketball standout Tyus Jones and one of his best basketball buddies did when they announced at the same time they were headed to Duke.
Cornell received scholarship offers from more than 30 top schools, including Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA and USC.
