Colts star running back Jonathan Taylor would reportedly “love” the Vikings to get involved in trade discussions, according to KSTP’s Darren Wolfson.
Speaking on SKOR North’s Mackey & Judd Show, Wolfson was asked about Taylor and began his answer by suggesting the Vikings probably aren’t interested while Taylor’s camp would very much like it if the Vikings got involved.
“It’s a non-starter from the Eagan point of view but the Taylor camp would love to involve the Vikings,” said Wolfson.
“The Taylor camp looks at it and says, ‘Hey, great situation there… our guy can have success in that offense with Justin Jefferson and those two elite tackles,” continued Wolfson. ‘The Taylor camp would love to see the Vikings get involved with the Colts in trade dialogue.”
The former Wisconsin running back has been in a contract dispute with the Colts this offseason as the 24-year-old heads into the final year of his rookie deal. Taylor has rushed for 3,841 yards and 33 touchdowns in three seaesons, including an 1,811-yard season in 2021.
Minnesota moved on from their own workhorse running back in Dalvin Cook, who has since signed with the Jets, and has handed the keys to the backfield to Alexander Mattison, with second year running back Ty Chandler appearing to lead the race as teh No. 2 back in Minnesota.
Indianapolis is reportedly seeking a first-round pick or a package of picks equivalent of a first-round pick. On top of a high price to acquire Taylor, the running back is seeking a big money extension.
“Bottom line, I do not see a scenario where Jonathan Taylor ends up here in Minnesota,” said Wolfson.
