Golden Gophers hockey stars Kyle Rau and Sam Warning were good enough in Minnesota’s pair of wins at the Ice Breaker Tournament last weekend to earn some Big Ten hockey hardware.
Warning was named the Second Star of the week and Rau earned the Third Star. According to the Star Tribune, the Big Ten will hand out three stars every week to honor the top performers in the conference.
Warning tallied three points, including the game-tying goal in the championship game against New Hampshire to earn MVP honors for the tournament. Rau had a three point game against Mercyhurst and he added an assist in the win over New Hampshire.
Michigan’s Andrew Copp was the First Star.
