The Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week is Minnesota Golden Gophers forward Kyle Rau, the conference announced Tuesday.
Rau tallied three points as Minnesota skated to a third-place finish at the 24th annual Mariucci Classic. The senior captain had an assist in Minnesota’s opening game loss to Merrimack and he added an assist and the game-winning goal in overtime of the Gophers’ victory over Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday.
According to GopherSports.com, it’s Rau’s first Big Ten weekly accolade this season and the second of his career.
The First Star of the Week went to Stillwater, Minnesota, native Matt Johnson, a senior forward at Ohio State. Johnson had his first career hat trick and scored four goals as the Buckeyes picked up a win and a tie in a series with Mercyhurst, according to the Big Ten.
