Kyle Rau and Nate Condon were chosen by head coach Don Lucia to captain the 2013-14 Golden Gophers hockey team, according to FOX Sports North.
“I’m excited for both Nate and Kyle to serve as captains this season,” Lucia said in a statement released by the team. “They’re both deserving of this honor, and they are both the kind of player you want in this role. They’re good students, they’re hard workers on and off the ice, and they are great representatives of our hockey program and the University of Minnesota.”
Rau called it a “huge honor” and Condon said it’s a “dream come true.”
The Gophers open the upcoming season October 11 and 12 with the Ice Breaker Tournament at Mariucci Arena.
