The Minnesota Twins won their sixth straight game on Wednesday night as Randy Dobnak hurled six shutout innings to help propel the Twins in a 5-0 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dobnak’s start was a homecoming for the South Park, Penn. native and he felt right at home allowing just three hits, no walks, and striking out three while shutting down the Pirates.

While Dobnak cruised, the offense had a more difficult time against Pirates starter Trevor Williams. Minnesota was able to get an RBI single from Marwin Gonzalez in the second inning, but couldn’t get anything else going as Williams went seven innings allowing five hits and a walk while striking out three.
The game remained 1-0 heading into the top of the ninth when Gonzalez delivered his second RBI single of the night Max Kepler added insurance with a three-run blast for his fourth home run of the season.

Josh Bell added a two-run home run off Jorge Acala in the bottom of the ninth, but it was too late as the Twins improved to 10-2 on the season for their best start through 12 games in franchise history.
The Twins will wrap up their series with the Pirates on Thursday afternoon as they’ll send Kenta Maeda (2-0, 1.64 ERA) to counter JT Brubaker (0-0, 0.00 ERA) with a 12:35 p.m. first pitch.
