Gophers sophomore point guard Rachel Banham was named to the All-Big Ten first team on Monday. She’s the first Gopher women’s basketball player to be selected to the first team since Emily Fox was in 2008.
Banham led the conference in scoring at 21 points per game — the most for a Gopher since Lindsay Whalen average over 22 points per game in 2001-02.
The Big Ten’s weekly awards were announced on Monday and Gophers junior forward Micaella Riche earned Player of the Week honors. She played a key role in helping Minnesota upset No. 7 Penn State.
