Even if Erik Van Rooyen falls apart and slips to last among the more than 70 remaining golfers at the British Open, he’ll still take home at least $13,500, according to CBS Sports.
But that’s unlikely to happen as Van Rooyen, the former Golden Gopher standout, remains 4-under par entering the final round at Carnoustie and is tied for 14th. Fourteenth place pays $155,000 at The Open, so he stands to win a lot of money.

Van Rooyen was in second place after carding a 4-under 67 in Thursday’s opening round, and he’s remained at 4-under after rounds of 71 on Friday and Saturday. His tee time for Sunday was 7:15 a.m. Central Time, and he is playing with Yusaku Miyazato.
The most money Van Rooyen has ever won as a professional is $324,000, which he took home after finishing fourth at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open earlier this month. He’s won more than $800,000 this year alone on the European Tour.
