The Minnesota Twins fell to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 on Tuesday night to open a three-game series in Florida.
The game featured the Twins most consistent starter this season in Kyle Gibson, who had only allowed two earned runs in his three previous starts on the season, and Rays ace David Price.
It wasn’t the pitchers duel that was expected, but Price lived up to the billing striking out 12 in the complete game victory.

Gibson didn’t fair as well for the Twins. He was tagged for a couple of runs in the first inning after a leadoff base hit and an early miscue on a pop-up set the Rays up to do damage early.
Gibson worked just three innings and gave up seven runs in taking the loss. Samuel Deduno pitched four innings of shutout relief and Jared Burton worked a scoreless ninth.
Minnesota scored their runs on the long ball. Chris Colabello and Brian Dozier each homered for Minnesota, but it wasn’t near enough.
Colabello’s two-run home run upped his RBI total on the season to 22.

The Twins and Rays continue the series on Wednesday night in Tampa. Mike Pelfrey starts for Minnesota on Wednesday evening against Jake Odorizzi who counters for the Rays.
