DeLaSalle forward Reid Travis.
Apple Valley point guard Tyus Jones.
Ex-Robbinsdale Cooper guard Rashad Vaughn.
They’re considered the “Big 3” basketball prep stars in Minnesota, all entering their Senior seasons (Vaughn will play at a prep school in Las Vegas this year).
So what are the chances any one of the three will play for the University of Minnesota?
It’s not looking good.
According to Pioneer Press writer Charley Walters, Jones (and Chicago’s Jahlil Okafor?) is leaning toward Duke, Vaughn could end up at North Carolina or UCLA — and Travis is leaning toward Michigan State.
Travis also told the Pioneer Press that he’s expected to visit UCLA.
As Marcus Fuller reports, Travis says he has a “great relationship” with Gophers coach Richard Pitino, but it’s hard to tell if Minnesota has a legitimate shot at signing him.
All three players were in action at the Nike Global Challenge in Washington, D.C., yesterday, leading Team USA to a 99-55 victory over Brazil.
