Xavier Rhodes became a first-time Pro Bowl player for the Vikings in 2016. Who will it be in 2017?
According to NFL.com’s Marc Sessler, the best bets are wide receiver Stefon Diggs and defensive end Danielle Hunter.
“Diggs finished last season with 903 yards off 84 grabs despite suffering a Week 4 groin injury that held him back the entire way. Considering that he piled up 372 yards over those first four tilts, it’s tantalizing to imagine what a fully healthy Diggs could have pulled off — even in Minnesota’s dysfunctional 2016 attack. Playing beside the productive Adam Thielen and wild-card addition Michael Floyd, Diggs today is the clear No. 1 in this Vikings offense, barring a surprise major role for Laquon Treadwell. Along with Diggs, edge rusher Danielle Hunter is a strong bet to earn Pro Bowl honors if he continues to shine on defense.”
“Stay healthy,” Diggs said during Vikings OTA’s when asked about his goals for next season. “That’s all that matters. I got hurt really early, pulled my groin during the Giants game. Stuff like that is on me. So staying healthy, staying where I need to be, so I can be in tip-top shape come game time.”
Hunter is a legit threat to lead the NFL in sacks. Consider that he had 12.5 sacks last season while starting only one game. And he doesn’t turn 23 until Oct. 29.
