EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Christian Ponder isn’t making any excuses for the Vikings’ 3-13 season in 2011-12. He told reporters today that he shoulders most of the blame, saying he “played poorly.”
“I was making bad mistakes and dumb decisions,” Ponder said. “It was a situation that I didn’t help.”
As for Sunday’s season opener against Jacksonville, Ponder said “there’s a great atmosphere” at Winter Park, with the team “ecstatic” to get going.
He says he has no real concerns, except to play well and said having a full preseason this summer was “huge.”
