Christian Ponder isn’t in the same class of quarterbacks that Aaron Rodgers heads. He’s somewhere in the middle … maybe even the bottom, but there are certain aspects of Rodgers’ game that former Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings is trying to help Ponder develop.
“One of the big things he (Jennings) talked about is anticipating throws,” Ponder said. “That’s something that Aaron does really well; just trusting myself and trusting receivers that they’re going to be where they’re supposed to be.”
“We need to keep building that trust and we’re going to keep doing that as we build this chemistry and we get more comfortable in this offense and with the guys that we have.”
As noted in BMTN’s Tuesday training camp report, the Vikings’ passing offense was dominated by the defense. Ponder acknowledged on Wednesday that the passing attack has a “long way to go.”
Despite the comparisons to Rodgers and a slow start to training camp, Ponder tells CBS that he doesn’t feel any added pressure this season.
