A third period hat trick from Jason Pominville led the Minnesota Wild to a 4-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night at the Xcel Energy Center.
With the game tied at one in the third, Pominville scored on a slapshot off an assist from Zach Parise to take a 2-1 lead.

A few minutes later Pominville scored again, this time on a wrist shot to give the Wild a two goal lead. He then scored his third goal of the period on an empty-netter in the final :20.
While Pominville was lighting the lamp, Wild goaltender Darcy Kuemper was doing his part in net. He stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced.
Parise also finished with a goal and an assist in the Wild win.
Minnesota travels to St. Louis on Thursday, they close their exhibition play on Saturday against the Blues back at the Xcel Energy Center.
The regular season opens Oct. 9 against the Colorado Avalanche in St. Paul.
