Details were released Friday in one of multiple sexual assault allegations against former Minnesota Vikings safety Darren Sharper.
He was arrested on a charge of suspicion of rape last week in Los Angeles in connection with two separate incidents. He was booked and later released on $200,000 bail. The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the cases and he is due back in court Feb. 14, according to Pro Football Talk.
Police confirmed last week that Sharper was the subject of an unrelated sexual assault investigation in New Orleans, details of which were released by the NOPD on Friday. Here is a portion of the full report, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
“The victim stated she consumed a large amount of alcohol on Sunday, September 23, 2013. The victim stated she went to a couple bars where she continued having alcoholic beverages. The victim stated she met the perpetrator at one of the bars, and he took her to his apartment and sexually assaulted her. The victim stated she did not consent to any sexual encounter. The investigation was open and ongoing.”
Sharper has not been arrested or charged in the New Orleans case.
He has been suspended by NFL Network, where he works as an in-studio analyst. He spent eight years with the Green Bay Packers before playing for the Vikings from 2005-08. He finished his career in New Orleans, where he helped the Saints beat the Vikings in the 2010 NFC Championship Game.
