There will be no World Peace at Target Center tonight.
Metta is out with an injury. He tore the meniscus in his left knee Monday night against Golden State, according to Yahoo!Sports, and won’t play tonight against the Timberwolves.
World Peace, averaging 12.8 points a game, had been the only Laker starter not to miss a game this year.
Los Angeles, clinging to the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference, is one game ahead of the Utah Jazz with 11 games to play.
For the Wolves, a win would work on three levels:
1) A win would mercifully end the Lakers’ 21-game winning streak over the Wolves.
2) The Wolves, who hammered Detroit Tuesday night, could win their second-consecutive game for the first time since mid-December.
3) A win would be a pothole on the Lakers’ iffy playoff path.
