The Chicago White Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 5-2 to open up their four-game weekend series at Target Field, Thursday night.
White Sox starter Hector Noesi (5-7) held the Twins to just three hits and two runs in 7 2/3 innings, to pick up the victory. Noesi took a one-hitter into the eighth inning.
White Sox reliever and Minnesota native Jake Petricka worked a perfect ninth to pick up the save, his fifth of the season.

The start didn’t go so well for Phil Hughes. Adam Dunn hit a ball off of Hughes’ right shin, forcing him to leave the game. He is listed as day-to-day.
The injury comes at the wrong time, the Twins are already without Ricky Nolasco and Kyle Gibson, because of injuries.
Hughes gave up two runs and struck out four in three plus innings.
Adam Eaton did most of the damage to the Twins. He was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Conor Gillaspie and Alexi Ramirez each had a pair of hits.
After scoring one in the third inning, Chicago added three in the fourth. The White Sox stretched the lead to five with their lone run in the sixth inning.
Minnesota was kept off the scoreboard until Danny Santana’s third home run of the season in the bottom of the eighth inning. It was one of just three hits on the night for Minnesota.
The Twins didn’t get good news on the Gibson front either. According to the Pioneer Press, Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said Gibson is “real-iffy” to start Saturday’s game against Chicago. He is still dealing with back stiffness that caused him to miss a start earlier in the week.
