Don’t hold your breath if you’re waiting for the Minnesota Vikings to pull off a crazy deal and acquire Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens and Jackson have agreed in principle on a five-year deal.

With Kirk Cousins unsigned beyond the upcoming 2023 season, the Vikings were among the handful of teams speculated upon as a potential landing spot for Jackson, which would’ve required an agreement on a huge contract in addition to sending the Ravens two first-round picks.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler previously reported that people in the NFL considered the Vikings a “wild card” partner for Jackson. Instead, Jackson is staying in the AFC.
Jackson, 26, is 46-15 as a starter in the regular season but has so far led the Ravens to only one victory in the playoffs. The idea of him playing for the Vikings was probably more of a pipe dream than anything else. The more realistic outcome is the Vikings drafting a quarterback to learn for a year under Cousins.
And by the way, Jackson staying in Baltimore takes another team picking ahead of Minnesota (Baltimore has the 22nd pick) out of the quarterback picture in Round 1 of the NFL Draft.
