Brett Favre can still engage with football fans and his popularity was on full display Sunday during a flag football game featuring more than a dozen former Vikings.
Brett Favre’s Legends Game was played in front of 22,000 fans at Camp Randall Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin Sunday, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. For Favre, it rounded out a memorable weekend in which he was also inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame; the Packers retired his No. 4 jersey.
“I don’t believe I’ll be making a comeback,” Favre joked after the game, per the newspaper. “My feet are killing me.”
The former Vikings in the game were:
- Brett Favre
- Donovan McNabb
- Sage Rosenfels
- Roger Craig
- Anthony Carter
- Steve Jordan
- Byron Chamberlain
- Matt Birk
- Robert Griffith
- Carl Lee
- Pete Bercich
- Henry Thomas
- Javon Walker
The Favre team, comprised mostly of former Packers, defeated the NFL All-Stars, 38-32. Proceeds from the game went to various charities for children, WKOW reports.
Ex-Gopher great and current Gopher football radio color commentator Darrell Thompson played on the Favre team. Thompson was drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 1990 NFL Draft.
The event was less competitive than it was a trip down memory lane for most, as you can see in the following tweets and Instagram photos.
