The Vikings won’t suit up for any “real” football until they meet for training camp in Mankato later this summer, but this week they’ll start an important part of their offseason program.
Vikings.com calls it “Phase 3”, where the team starts its voluntary Organized Team Activities. OTAs run for 10 days starting Tuesday at the team’s Winter Park practice facility in Eden Prairie.
Here’s what’s allowed over the 10 days of workouts.
- 10 voluntary OTAs during the 4-week period (May 27-June 20)
- 1 mandatory mini-camp during Week 3 or Week 4 of Phase 3
- All coaches on the field
- Helmets
- Team offense vs. team defense
- Kicking team vs. returning team
OTAs set the stage for a 3-day mandatory minicamp that leads into training camp.
