Adrian Peterson carried the Vikings to the playoffs in 2012. He averaged more than 150 yards a game over the final 10 weeks of the season, and he’s hoping to put the Vikings on his back again.
At 1-7, carrying the Vikings to the playoffs again is probably out of the question, however, if he’s going to put the team on his back he’s going to need the football.
After a three game stretch in which he carried the ball 10, 13 and 13 times, Peterson was the focus last week in Dallas with 25 carries for 140 yards and an impressive touchdown run.
“First time ever that has happened,” Peterson said about that three-game stretch, via the Star Tribune. “I’m not a selfish player at all. I’m all about getting a W.”
Getting the ball 25 times like he did in Dallas, despite losing the game, is the way to victories, according to Peterson.
“I feel like I didn’t do enough and that’s the way I’m always looking at things,” Peterson said at a press conference on Tuesday. “I feel like I’m the quarterback when it’s tough losses like that. We just need to continue to stick to the run and I just need to do more to help my team win.”
