Adrian Peterson did not practice Thursday – the second straight day this week the star running back has sat out with injury.
The 30-year-old is battling ankle and shoulder issues, according to the team’s injury report.
Wednesday though, head coach Mike Zimmer said everything he’s heard, the prognosis for AD’s ankle is positive, and he “should be good.”
Peterson suffered an ankle injury in the second quarter against Chicago, and was limited in the game from that point on.
Tight end Rhett Ellison (ankle) and cornerback Josh Robinson (concussion) also missed practice Wednesday and Thursday.
The three big Vikings defensive starters who missed this past week’s victory against the Bears were all limited in practice Thursday.
Zimmer said Wednesday he thinks Harrison Smith (knee/hamstring), Anthony Barr (knee) and Linval Joseph (foot) will play, but he isn’t sure.
Giants without Beckham
The defense should have a slightly easier task against the New York Giants, who will be without star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
He was suspended for Sunday’s game in Minnesota after an incident against Carolina this past Sunday – that punishment was upheld Wednesday.
His fellow wide receiver, Dwayne Harris, was limited in practice for the Giants Thursday.
Head Coach Tom Coughlin told reporters that morning they’re “trying to work some other guys in there” with Harris hobbled and Beckham out, saying there’s now an “opportunity for everybody to contribute.”
“Our team has got to step up, and I think it’s about our team to be able to now come together and play hopefully our best game,” he said. “But certainly many many people are going to have to be called upon.”
