Last time we checked, Christian Ponder was still the only quarterback on the Minnesota Vikings roster.
In other words, the Vikings have quite a bit of work to do. They can either fill out their quarterback depth behind Ponder, because, hey, it’s possible he’ll be the starter next year, or they can find a starter in via free agency or the upcoming NFL Draft.
While the pool of free-agent quarterbacks isn’t deep, it does include one player that running back Adrian Peterson believes would instantly make the Vikings a playoff team.
@MikeVick would intently make the vikings a playoff team!

Peterson’s tweet doesn’t appear to have come out of nowhere. The Viking Age noted that NFL Network put out this tweet earlier in the day.

Mark Craig of the Star Tribune has the 34-year-old Vick as the No. 1 free-agent quarterback available. No. 2 and No. 3 on that list are Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman, both of whom played for the Vikings last season. Cassel recently voided the final year of his contract with the Vikings. Cassel and the Houston Texans have shown interest in each other, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Multiple sources reported Wednesday that the Eagles won’t bring Vick back next season, citing concern about his durability, according to CBS Sports.
The Vikings have not been linked to Vick, but the Raiders and Jets have.
As for making the playoffs, Michael Rand has a list of five reasons the Vikings will make a postseason appearance next season.
