Adrian Peterson did it again Sunday, putting up 211 yards, which ties him for the second-most 200-yard games in a career with five.
AP also broke the 10,000-yard mark on the ground, becoming the third-fastest player to reach the milestone, with only Eric Dickerson and Jim Brown getting there faster.
AP spoke on these achievements as well as Minnesota’s 23-20 overtime win over the Bears Sunday.
On getting to 10,000 yards: “It means a lot, a lot of guys over the years have contributed to it. Matt Birk, Steve Hutchinson, Bryant Mckinnie, the fullbacks over the years, the guys from this year. Just to be in that elite group is truly a blessing.”
Could you have carried the ball more today? “I could’ve gone more, I get stronger when I go. I could’ve gone 50, 55 carries.”
“Conditioning plays a big part, you get tired, you start making mental mistakes, it can cost you the game, our group was able to continue to push and come up with a big W at home.”
On Matt Cassel: “He a savvy vet, a great leader, you’re going to get everything he has, when you have a guy like that, you don’t question it, you just go.”
On his health: “I feel pretty good, just going to continue to do the things I need to do and push to next Sunday. I’ll be OK.”
“I haven’t seen guys quit. There’s still fight there, and today was a perfect example.”
On the milestones and how he compares himself with the greats. “Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson, guys I looked up to, those are guys that motivated me to be better than them. I still have a long way to go. I’m blessed to be in this position.”
“Since I was young I’ve wanted to be the best to ever play, it’s been my mindset. You got to believe it to make it happen.”
