Adrian Peterson wasn’t allowed to run roughshod over the Houston Texan defense Sunday.
His totals were rather pedestrian (for Peterson), with 86 yards on 25 carries and no touchdowns in Minnesota’s 23-6 upset victory.
With one game to go — against Green Bay Sunday — Peterson is 102 yards away from the 2,000 yard mark and 208 yards away from shattering Eric Dickerson’s NFL single-season rushing record.
Tall order? Yes. But just a few weeks ago Peterson rushed for 210 yards against the Packers in that loss at Lambeau Field.
Peterson is also on record saying that records are great, but he’d rather win. Sure, Dickerson should watch his back, but with the playoffs on the line Peterson says he’s not going to let personal records “overwhelm” him. As he told the Pioneer Press,“if it comes it’s going to come.”
Next week? AP tells the NFLNetwork the Vikings are “playing our best football.”
