He’s being referred to as MVPeterson, but it’s not a sure thing Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will win the award. Denver’s Peyton Manning is also a frontrunner for the award. It’s possible they could share the MVP, but Peterson tells the Pioneer Press he wants the MVP “all to myself.”
In an interview with NBC Sports Network, Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said there is “no doubt” that Adrian Peterson is the NFL’s most valuable player. He said “we wouldn’t be in the position that we’re in right now without Adrian Peterson.”
How impressive has his season been? ESPN’s Michael Smith, Jalen Rose and Hugh Douglas explain why playing in today’s era makes what Peterson is doing even more unreal.
While Peterson is chasing Eric Dickerson’s single season NFL rushing record, there are other records on the bring of being broken. Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson can surpass Jerry Rice’s single season receiving yards record, Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, along with 49ers pass rusher Aldon Smith can break the single season sack record, and Vikings kicker Blair Walsh can set the record for most 50 yard field goals made in one season.
Peterson won’t be the only great running back on the field during the game. Houston’s Arian Foster has been as good as everybody but Peterson this season.
