Percy Harvin is on injured reserve with an ankle injury, and out for the season. That’s the big headline from the Vikings this week. Now it’s time to speculate on what really happened, and what happens next.
Star Tribune beat writer Dan Weiderer say the news “contained an odd layer of mystery” — especially when you consider Harvin’s out-of-the-blue trade request last summer and his previous run-ins with former coach Brad Childress.
Kevin Seifert, who writes ESPN’s NFC North Blog, is as puzzled as anyone: “As has often been the case with Harvin’s time in Minnesota, I have no idea what’s next.”
In his Vikings-Bears preview, the DailyNorseman’s Eric J. Thomspon writes that when it comes to Harvin, “It really seems like he doesn’t want to be on this team sometimes” … and if that’s the case, the Vikings should trade him.
Pioneer Press writer Tom Powers blames the Vikings for Harvin’s early departure. In his opinion: “The team has so few offensive weapons that Harvin simply was overused.”
PiPress writer Bob Sansevere says no matter what happened, it looks like a 6-10 season for the Purple, writing: “All the Vikings can do is limp through the remainder of the season.”
Jerome Simpson, the stage is yours.
