The Minnesota Wild fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3 Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.
1. Penguins power play wakes up
The Penguins came into the game with the 30th-ranked power play in the NHL. But it didn’t look that way on Tuesday night as they finished 2-of-6 on power play opportunities.
Beau Bennett scored Pittsburgh’s first power play goal of the night, which was his third goal of the season.

Evgeni Malkin netted their second power play goal in the second period. It was the first of two goals for him on the night.
2. Major shot drought dooms Wild
The Wild were slowed by a shot drought that lasted nearly an entire period, and was a major factor in why they fell into a three-goal deficit.
After the Wild tied the game at 1-1, they went the next 15-plus minutes without even tallying a shot on goal. During that stretch the Penguins lit the lamp three different times.

Mikael Granlund tied the score at 1-1 for Minnesota in the first period. It was just his second goal of the season and snapped a 13-game scoreless drought.

Wild coach Mike Yeo had recently moved Granlund to the third line because of his slow start.

Wild forward Chris Porter was called for high sticking, but it wasn’t his stick that hit the Penguins player. The Penguins took advantage of the power play opportunity to add an insurance goal in the second period.
