As had been rumored for the past couple days, the 35-year-old six-time All-Star announced on Twitter he’s signing with the San Antonio Spurs. He’s spent the past two season with Chicago (one under current Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau), and in 2015-16 averaged 16.5 points, 11 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
ESPN reports his contract is in the two-year, $30 million range, and the Wolves were in a bidding war with the Spurs, Trailblazers and Raptors for his services.
It means the Wolves have struck out on the top-tier forwards available this offseason that they appeared interested in, including Gasol, Marvin Williams, and Luol Deng.
