Wild winger Zach Parise missed Monday’s 4-1 loss against Philadelphia with what head coach Mike Yeo described as a “lower-body” injury.
As hockey enthusiasts know, it’s not a new practice to have injuries be termed lower-body or upper-body, and apparently Parise’s lower-body injury isn’t new either.
On Nov. 27, Parise took a shot off the foot, and was unable to wear a shoe after the game, simply donning a sock to cover the foot because the swelling and pain were too great.
That led some to believe that Parise would miss time, but he ended up playing just two days later against Colorado.
Perhaps Parise was a bit ambitious coming back so quickly, as Michael Russo of the Star Tribune reports that the lower-body injury that kept the $98 million man out Monday is the same one that he suffered last month.
The injury apparently never healed.
Parise is being evaluated over the extended break, and Yeo is expected to announce whether the winger will be able to go tomorrow against Winnipeg prior to the 7 p.m. puck drop.
The Wild are 5-8-1 since Parise suffered the injury.
