Zach Parise is going to miss the next 8-10 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back, the Wild announced Tuesday.
The surgery took place early this morning and was successful.
The 8-10 week window puts him on track to return just before Christmas or shortly after Jan. 1, which means he’ll likely play in a maximum of 50 games this season.
Parise was expected to man one of the top lines for the Wild this season but he has yet to play because of the herniated disc. It’s the second time a back ailment has kept Parise away from the team – he missed the final portion of the 2015-16 regular season and playoffs
With Parise out for the long term the Wild brought up Luke Kunin and Justin Kloos from their American Hockey League affiliate in Iowa.
