It’s a no-brainer that Brett Favre’s number will be retired by the Green Bay Packers. The question is, when will the team do it.
The Associated Press reports that Packer president Mark Murphy would like to hang the jersey before Favre is inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016. In a question-and-answer session on the team’s website, Murphy revealed plans for helping to end a long rift between the former quarterback and the team. Murphy says Favre will be a first-ballot Hall of Famer and the team wants to retire No. 4 prior to that.
Murphy says he knows many Packer fans were upset when Favre played for the Vikings. But he says as time has passed, fans have refocused on the great things Favre did in green and gold.
