Last week, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers signed a five-year, $110 million contract extension.
Today, word that the deal also included a staggering $35 million signing bonus in 2013, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette. Add in his $4.5 million base salary and $500,000 workout bonus, and Rodgers will make $40 dollars this coming year.
That’s a lot of cheese.
Also, according to Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the deal is structured in a way that the Packers are still $13.5 million under the salary cap limit.
Nevertheless, it’s been an expensive April for Green Bay.
Rodgers’ signing bonus is the largest in Packers history — and with the $20.5 million signing bonus given to linebacker Clay Matthews — the Packers have dished out and extra $55.5 million.
