For the second time this season the Vikings are waiting in the wind following an opponent testing positive for COVID-19 after facing Minnesota.
On Sunday, a member of the Green Bay Packers tested positive for the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, with multiple reports identifying the player as running back A.J. Dillon.
Dillon carried the ball five times for 21 yards against the Vikings and caught one pass out of the backfield. The players credited with tackles on Dillon’s touches are: Troy Dye, Eric Kendricks, Shamar Stephen, Eric Kendricks, Harrison Smith, Eric Wilson, Jalyn Holmes and Harrison Hand, though there were numerous other players in close contact, albeit for short bursts, with Dillon.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Dillon’s result was from a test taken Sunday morning. He played 17 snaps in the game. As Pelissero notes, the NFL has not tracked any on-field transmission of the virus.
Minnesota evaded transmission earlier this season when they faced the Tennessee Titans, who ultimately had their next week’s game postponed after more than 20 players and staff tested positive for COVID-19.
