The injuries to the Green Bay Packers are piling up this preseason, and the receiving corp has taken the brunt of them.
Jordy Nelson went down with a season-ending knee injury eight days ago, and now Randall Cobb, the team’s de facto No. 1 wide receiver minus Nelson, is hurt.
Cobb suffered an sprain to the AC joint in his shoulder on the third play of Saturday’s preseason game against the Eagles, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Luckily, doctors don’t think Cobb’s injury won’t keep him out for an extended period of time.
“We thought it could have been collarbone or something and it’s not,” Cobb said. “Fortunately enough there’s a silver lining.”
Cobb’s injury likely will have no impact on this year’s meetings against the Vikings. Green Bay and Minnesota play in weeks 11 and 17.
Cobb wasn’t the only Packer to get hurt Saturday. Starting offensive lineman Bryan Bulaga hurt his ankle and safety/corner/returner Micah Hyde injured his neck, according to Yahoo Sports.
The Journal says Cobb probably won’t practice at all this week, meaning he’ll have one week to get ready for the season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Sept. 13.

Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, per Pro Football Talk, didn’t play in Saturday’s game because he simply didn’t want to risk getting injured himself. He was outspoken after Nelson was lost for the season, saying preseason games are “meaningless.”
Depending on Randall Cobb injury, and offensive line injuries, we're going to find out just how great Aaron Rodgers really is.

Although he's not even playing, #Packers may want to move Aaron Rodgers to safe, undisclosed location like @SecretService does with @POTUS.
