The guy Fox 9 sports director Jim Rich interviewed outside Target Field after the 3-1 victory is a great representation of every Twins fan. In shock, the fan expresses great relief in the 18-game playoff losing streak coming to an end. Here’s how his one-on-one with Rich went…
Fan: “Thanks buddy.”
Jim Rich: “Ope, stay here. Stay here. What happened in there?”
Fan: They won. They won. They…won. They freaking won. The curse is over. Eighteen years. It’s done. They won. We’re done. We won. One game. 2004. Oh my God I don’t know what to do. We won. We won! We won!”
Jim Rich: “That sums it up.”

The Twins’ victory sets the stage for Game 2 on Wednesday, which could very well bring Minnesotans back into a state of panic if they lose and face an elimination game Thursday.
But if they win, the Twins will have momentum heading into a best-of-seven series against the Astros, who oh by the way lost to the Twins in four of six games during the regular season.
