For all the coulda-shoulda-woulda that came out of the Vikings’s 31-30 loss in Chicago Friday, there was one glimmer of good new: The team is relatively injury free.
Coach Leslie Frazier said after Sunday’s game that center John Sullivan was a little banged up, but, hey, that’s football.
And Kevin Williams played almost 50 snaps at defensive tackle, propping up a defensive line that missed him terribly as he sat out last week with an injured knee.
“My knee was fine,” Williams tells the Pioneer Press. “There were a lot of unknowns, … But it held up.”
It was announced that Williams would play, but nothing tells the tale like a little game time.
Williams had a tackle and an interception of a ball that was tipped twice in the Chicago end zone.
The 33-year-old said he had felt great earlier in the week, he said, and was ready to play.
The staffed monitored his playing time: “They didn’t want to overdo it.”
