Former Wolves forward Michael Beasley has had a rough offseason.
More trouble for marijuana possession on August 6, the Suns looking to find a way to stretch out paying him the $9 million they owe from one of the worst NBA contracts in recent memory, and now an alleged pending release.
Reports out of Phoenix have Beasley gone before the end of the week, a move that would end his contract two years before the three-year deal he signed in 2012 is up.
The Suns waited this long because of a September 1 deadline that will allow the team to pay him six of the $9 million they owe him this year, and spread out the other $3 million over multiple seasons.
The Suns were Beasley’s third team in five years, and his legal offenses are nearly one a year on average as well. He faced sexual assault allegations earlier this year, while being booked for speeding, driving with a suspended license, and driving without a license plate or registration.
He also got in hot water his rookie year at the NBA Rookie Camp for having marijuana and girls in his room, both things not allowed at the first-year symposium.
