It’s a day many Minnesota sports fans won’t forget. On Aug. 1, 2001, Vikings offensive lineman Korey Stringer died from complications of a heat stroke he had suffered the day before during training camp in Mankato.

The Korey Stringer Institute at the University of Connecticut is working to make sure all athletes and coaches take measures to avoid a repeat of the tragedy.
