Mike Zimmer is back.
The Vikings’ head coach is already back on the job just days after undergoing emergency surgery to repair a detached retina in his eye. The news comes Monday in a brief statement from general manager Rick Spielman.
“Mike Zimmer has returned to his coaching duties and is expected to travel with the team to Jacksonville for this weekend’s game,” the statement says.
Zimmer missed Minnesota’s 17-15 home loss to the Cowboys last Thursday, dropping Minnesota to a record of 6-6.
The Jacksonville Jaguars gave the defending Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos all it could handle on Sunday before eventually losing. The Jags are 2-10 on the season.
No other details about Zimmer’s vision were provided.
