Noah Syndergaard would’ve looked good in Twins colors, but the next best thing is the flame-throwing right-hander trolling Minnesota’s rival in the AL Central race.
Before Syndergaard shut down the Indians over six innings Thursday night, Cleveland’s Twitter account posted a message telling fans to calm down after two consecutive losses to a “fringe playoff team.”
“It’s a long season. We didn’t erase an 11.5-game deficit to roll over. We split a series with one of the best teams in MLB at their home ballpark. We lost the last 2 to a fringe postseason team,” the Indians Twitter account says. “We understand your frustration. Get it out here, but let’s renew the perspective.”
First off, that 11.5-game deficit was erased, but it’s now 3.5 games because that fringe playoff team beat Cleveland 2-0 to complete a three-game sweep. And Syndergaard was clearly fueled by the Indians underrating his Mets.
“We got some FRINGE for you right here, we call it a SWEEP in NYC,” wrote Syndergaard.

Speaking of fringe playoff teams, how ’bout them Indians?
If the playoffs started today (Friday), the Indians would NOT make it. They’re a half-game behind the Athletics and Rays in the AL wild-card race.
The Mets, meanwhile, are just 1.5 games behind the Cardinals for the second wild-card spot in the National League race.
