Everson Griffen and Harrison Smith wouldn’t be wrong if they felt spited after they missed out on a free trip to Hawaii for the Pro Bowl.
The official Pro Bowl rosters were announced Tuesday, and for the first time in 27 years, the Vikings didn’t have any players selected. Players were voted in by players, coaches and fans.
According to the Star Tribune, 1983 was the last season the Vikings didn’t have a player in the Pro Bowl.
Griffen ranks eighth in the NFL with 12 sacks but he wasn’t one of six defensive ends invited. Smith’s five interceptions rank fifth in the league and his three sacks are tied for most among defensive backs.
The Vikings, Giants, Jaguars and Titans are the only teams without a Pro Bowl selection, according to Pro Football Talk.
The Vikings could still have a player represent them in Hawaii if injuries or Super Bowl-bound players can’t attend the game.
