Aaron Hicks is slated to come off the disabled list in the near future, and that means all ears are waiting to hear what decision the Twins will make in the outfield when Hicks is ready to return.
For now, Twins writer Rhett Bollinger says Hicks will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Rochester beginning Friday. A timetable for his return to the big leagues hasn’t been established; the rehab assignment is being called “open ended.”

Hicks is eligible to return from the disabled list on Monday. He was placed on the DL June 14 with a strained right forearm.

As for top prospect Byron Buxton, who was called up shortly after Hicks hit the DL, his future has not yet been determined. After a slow start to his big league career, Buxton has four hits in the past two games entering Wednesday’s series finale against the White Sox.

According to Bollinger, the Twins clocked Buxton’s speed from home to first on an infield single Monday at 3.77 seconds. It was the fastest General Manager Terry Ryan has ever seen a right-handed hitter get to first base.
