The top-ranked Golden Gophers men’s hockey team defeated No. 2 Notre Dame, 4-1 Tuesday night at Mariucci Arena. Nate Condon, Sam Warning, Christian Isackson and Zach Budish tallied goals for Minnesota, who improved to 14-3-3 on the season.
The battle of two of the nation’s top goaltenders was won by Minnesota’s Adam Wilcox. The freshman from St. Paul made 21 saves en route to the win. Steven Summerhays, who had lower goals against average than Wilcox into the game, gave up three goals on 22 shots Budish’s goal came in an empty net situation late in the third period.
Minnesota will rest a couple of days before hosting Alaska-Anchorage this weekend.
