The NBA’s top draft picks will square off in the regular season opener, just like they did to open the Las Vegas Summer League.
The Timberwolves and their top draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns will head to Los Angeles to open the regular season against No. 2 pick D’Angelo Russell and the Lakers on Oct. 28.
The team announced its 2015-16 schedule on Wednesday, and it’s a year where there appears to be a little more interest in the Wolves after they came out of the draft with Towns and Apple Valley native Tyus Jones.
The Wolves will play their home opener on Nov. 2 against Portland. They will have two four-game home stands – the first occurring from Dec. 1-9, the second from Jan. 6-12.
LeBron James, Kevin Love and the Cleveland Cavaliers will come to Target Center on Jan. 8 during that second home stand.
In other games of note, the defending champion Golden State Warriors come to Minnesota twice – on Nov. 12, then again on March 21.
The Star Tribune notes that after a 16-win season last year, the Wolves will play in 12 nationally televised games – one on TNT, four on ESPN and seven on NBATV.
